Objective

NAOC is a well-established, professional training school. In its 20 year history, the NAOC has drawn Canadian students from all over the world. The NAOC is a highly recognized, celebrated Canadian institution led by Artistis Director Boris Brott, who is also Artistic Director of the New West Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles and the McGill Chamber Orhcestra in Montreal. He is one of Canada's most celebrated and internationally recognized conductors. Please see his bio and www.borisbrott.com.

The NAOC has trained Canadian orchestral musicians between the ages of 20 and 30 for the last 20 years. Our graduate students have gone on to perform as soloists, orchestral and chamber musicians and have become part of every major orchestra in Canada and many in United States and around the world. NAOC students are mentored by recognized mentors including Pinchas Zukerman, James Ehnes, Yi-Jia Susanne Hou (all violin), Amanda Forsyth (cello) and Joel Quarrington (bass) to name a few. Our soloists have included Anton Kuerti, Arthur Ozolins, Giuseppe Lalicata, clarinettist Giampiero Sobrino, French pianist Daniel Propper, violinists Elizabeth Pitcairn (The Red Violin), Charles Stegeman. Students are trained in masterclasses with major soloists and mentored by the finest musicians in North America.

The NAOC program is situated in Hamilton, Ontario, a community of 500,000 in the picturesque west side of Lake Ontario, 1hour from Toronto and 1 hour away from Niagara Falls.
